ROCKFORD —
Handguns and drugs were recovered this week in a drug raid in an Auburn Street apartment.
About 9:30 a.m. Thursday, the Rockford Police Department narcotics unit served a search warrant in the 4100 block of Auburn Street. Officers recovered three handguns, 225 packets of heroin weighing 119 grams and 77 grams of cocaine.
Sammy Ray Gordon Jr., 20; Alex M. Boose, 21; and Javin S. Mason, 17, were arrested on charges of possession with intent to deliver heroin, possession with intent to deliver cocaine and armed violence.
Gordon Jr. also was charged with unlawful use of a weapon by a felon.
All are being held in the Winnebago County Jail, along with Gordon’s father, Sammy R. Gordon, 45, of Rockford. The elder Gordon was arrested by the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department last week and is charged with organizing a large-scale heroin operation.
